Who are we?
Dr. Livia Granata is the founder of Tri4Water. She is a neurologist based in Zurich, Switzerland, who specializes in pain management. Dr. Granata has been a triathlete since 2015, and has competed in multiple Ironman triathlons around the world.
Collaborating with her in these projects is Gelacio Eduardo Vieyra Chunga. He is a registered Industrial Engineer, holding a Master’s Degree, consultant and advisor on security & safety. Also, a sspecialized ITSE and CENEPRED accredited inspector. Natural Disaster Risk Evaluator. Competitor in Ironman 70.3 with Dr. Livia Granata.
They met at an Ironman triathlon in Portugal and have been working together ever since to find ways in helping those in desperate need of access to clean water.
Why do we do this?
In Dr. Granata's first Ironman triathlon, she did not pack enough water to last her the whole race, and the closest water stations were 15 to 20km away. Racing in the 38°C heat in Italy with no immediate access to water made her realize just how difficult it is to feel thirsty and not have immediate access to fresh clean water. Ironman triathlons are all about resilience and determination, but are impossible without proper fuel in the form of clean water and nutrition.
Gelacio and Livia hope to work together to provide immediate access to clean water to those in need. Their aim is to have less people go through daily struggles of thirst and necessities.
OUR
GOAL
Clean water is a precious resource which many of us take for granted. For many people in communities around the world, finding ways to access clean water is a daily concern. We are here to help change that.
Our first project will be set in Peru, where villagers have to hike down the mountain to collect water, before returning to their homes with enough water for the day. With your help, we hope to raise enough money to install a water pump system that will bring the water from the sources below, straight to the villages up in the mountains.
The next step would be to create a system that will distribute the water to each individual house in the village.
While our main goal is installing the water pump, you can start helping by purchasing water bottles to be sent to the people in Lima. These bottles will also be distributed at future Ironman triathlons.
Future projects will be set in other areas in need, such as South America and eventually Africa.
